Stephen Bloom, LLB, Founder and President

Stephen graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1986 with the Bronze Medal. From his call to the bar in 1988 until April 2016, Stephen practiced corporate law as a partner at Goodmans LLP, one of Canada’s leading full-service law firms, with a focus on private transactions including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures and financings.

After leaving the practice of law, Stephen joined a prominent Canadian family at Shiplake Properties, an owner and operator of significant real estate assets, including apartment, seniors housing and office, and with a deep history in the development of housing solutions for the Greater Toronto Area, as well as investment across numerous operating businesses. Stephen was named Chief Executive Officer of Shiplake in 2018 and remained in that role until leaving to establish Batl Capital in 2023. During his time at Shiplake, Stephen co-founded Collecdev, a development and construction management business focused on high-rise residential projects.

Stephen has served on several community boards of directors, including The Trustees of the Jewish Foundation of Toronto, the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto, the Avenue Road Hockey Association and the Israel Cancer Research Fund Canada. Stephen is committed to giving back and to mentoring the next generation of leaders.

Trevor Bloom, HBA, MREI, Vice President and Managing Director

Trevor graduated from the Ivey Business School at Western University in 2014 with an Honors in Business Administration. While at Ivey, Trevor interned for a search fund that ultimately successfully acquired and exited a business. After graduating, Trevor worked as an analyst at a boutique investment bank, and then joined First National Financial as a commercial mortgage underwriter, focusing on purpose-built rental properties across Ontario. Trevor left First National in 2019 to obtain a Master of Real Estate & Infrastructure from the Schulich School of Business. After graduating from the program, Trevor worked at Fengate Asset Management in their Real Estate department, focusing on financial planning & analysis. Trevor left his role at Fengate to join Peerage Capital, a single-family office, focusing on the acquisition, development and asset management of their self storage portfolio.

Trevor left his role at Peerage in early 2024 to help launch Batl Capital, where he is responsiblefor managing the existing investment portfolio, and sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities. Outside of work, Trevor is a passionate supporter of Toronto’s local sports teams, live music, films and restaurants.
